After a season in the sun or snow DIY sugar lip sugar scrubs are essential for your weekly pamper routine. I don’t know about you but in the city of Houston our weather is so fickle that in the morning it could be 50 and in the evening it could be 80. And my lips get really confused. Dry cracked lips are not attractive and even more it can be painful! So organic lip scrubs are the thing to grab all year long!
I’m super big on organic products and things that only are made with ingredients that you can pronounce and spell and appreciate. So DIY sugar lip scrubs are the thing to make. DIY sugar lip scrubs are super easy and so much fun to make. You can do them in large quantities and share the wealth or you can make them one at a time. I like to make a large group of them and give them out to my friends. Because they are made with organic and very clean products I don’t like them to sit on a shelf for too long; so either make small batches for yourself or make large batches and give them away.
Here are a few recipes I found on this site. Blessed Beyond Crazy is a cute, fun site with lots of great blogs and things to inspire you. I just love all their ideas for different scrubs! They even make for a scrub with coffee grounds that I have posted here for you!

- few drops of vanilla
Directions:
Mix all together and store in an airtight container.

More About My Homemade Lip Scrub & Why To Use Them
There are several reasons to consider using lip scrubs, whether it be environment, weather, age, or something else. “As we age, lips become thinner due to the loss of collagen over time,” explains Marianna. “Lip scrubs can smooth lip lines and stimulate blood flow, which is essential in fighting signs of aging.” explains Heather Marianna, skincare expert and founder/CEO of Beauty Kitchen.
Lip scrub benefits include “removing dead skin that builds up around the lip which can lead to dull, dry lips,” explains celebrity aesthetician Joshua Ross of SkinLab.
To sum up the benefits: With the right ingredients, a lip scrub can offer exfoliation, hydration, moisture, nourishment, and antiseptic benefits all at the same time, according to Marianna…

To make your DIY sugar lip scrubs, make sure that you’re buying the right essential oils. It’s important to buy organic and digestible oils. Do your research. Ask friends. There are lots of oils out there that are not tested for internal use and you need to be careful which ones you’re purchasing and what you’re using them for.
I’m partial to Young Living which is sold online but that’s just me and if you’re interested in more details about Young Living feel free to message me. I do sell it and believe in their product and the message they send about total wellness.
I hosted an event at my friend’s tea house and we made homemade sugar lip scrubs and a few shower gels and body lotion. Everybody had such a great time concocting their own flavors with the organic essential oils that I brought to sample.
It’s so much fun the materials are really simple to collect and it’s a great little get together with your friends. You can make me his teacher gifts or even stocking stuffers or other holiday gifts.
Anyways, try your own DIY sugar lip scrubs and let me know what you think. I typically use them once a week. They do leave a little bit of an oil residue on your lips but they feel so soft and supple after that you will thank me once you try these. Get creative and have some fun. Invite some friends over and make a batch together while sipping some wine and binge watching one of my favorite shows, Schitt’s Creek!
